Fishing
A Multiple Species Kind of Day
I returned to Sawyers Pond in Emmett, Idaho, for this trip and didn't expect the results. Started off getting into some trout just beyond the weed line and very deep. The float was getting some interest, but I couldn't get the hookset, so I tested the bluegill I was seeing in front of me. Turned out there was a massive slab of a Crappie hanging out there. This one made my new PB. While I waited for more trout, I used the Tenkara to fish around the dock and catch several gorgeous bluegill.

My Top 5 Artificial Baits
Fishing was pretty rough this week, with the heat making the fish sluggish and unwilling to eat. The local ponds are also not getting any new fish stocked in them during these hot Summer months, so there are fewer fish to go around. Since I was striking out at the ponds, I thought I'd share my personal top 5 artificial baits. Enjoy!
Cold Wind Leads to Slow Success
Mariposa Pond has been incredibly successful, and today proved no different, though it was a slower day than usual. The cold wind blowing right in my face made things even more difficult. Overall, it was a successful day with 4 average-sized trout. I had a blast despite it taking a few hours to reach that number.
Fast & Furious Fishing
I didn't have much time, so I was hoping for some good action as the sun was setting. I wasn't disappointed. It was a little slow, but, despite the cold, the bite was coming, and I was able to get a few to shore before the time ran out.
